Dubai Police have taken swift action in the past two days, confiscating 36 vehicles due to serious traffic violations committed by drivers. The violations encompassed a range of offenses, including reckless driving, disturbing residents, unclear number plates, and unauthorized vehicle modifications, among others.
Under the recent amendments to Dubai’s traffic law, which came into effect on July 6, motorists found guilty of reckless driving or running red lights could face fines of up to Dh50,000 and vehicle impoundment. These strict penalties are aimed at deterring behaviors that endanger lives and disrupt road safety.
Colonel Muhammad Abdullah Khalfan Al Qaedi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic at the Dubai Police, emphasized that a significant portion of violators were involved in severe accidents, resulting in fatalities and serious injuries. Dubai Police are committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and will not tolerate any form of violation.
Colonel Al Qaedi urged the public to report road safety violations through the “Police Eye” service available in the Dubai Police smartphone app or by contacting the “We Are All Police” service at 901.
