Dubai, known for its innovative spirit and stunning architecture, has launched a Religious Tourism Project aimed at attracting visitors from around the globe. The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai (IACAD) recently revealed this ambitious initiative during a press conference at its headquarters.
The primary goal of this project is to boost tourism in Dubai while promoting Islamic culture and values. Dubai aims to become the world’s top destination for both Islamic and charitable tourism by 2025, according to Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansouri from IACAD. This initiative is not limited to Muslims; it welcomes people of all faiths.
One of the standout features of this project is the world’s first Floating Mosque. This unique structure will consist of three floors, with one half above the water, including seating areas and a coffee shop, while the other half will be submerged below, featuring a serene prayer area with ablution and toilet facilities, accommodating up to 75 worshippers. The estimated cost for this remarkable mosque is around Dh55 million.
Additionally, the project includes a Quranic Exhibition, highlighting the journey of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Quran, which was distributed globally between 2000 and 2005. There are also initiatives like Dubai Iftar, promoting unity during Ramadan, and Hala Ramadan, which brings people of different faiths together for social, sports, and educational programs in Dubai’s new neighborhoods. This project is expected to increase Dubai’s tourist numbers by 3% to 4%, solidifying its position as a top destination for religious and cultural tourism.
