Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has officially declared Saturday, September 23rd, as a holiday to commemorate the 93rd Saudi National Day. This holiday applies to both private and non-profit organizations, in accordance with Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Labour Law. The regulations outline the requirements for employers to observe official holidays, promoting a smooth celebration of the national event. Students in schools and universities will also enjoy a day off on Sunday, September 24th, allowing them to join in the festivities.
The Saudi National Day holds historical significance, marking the unification of Najd and Hijaz in 1932. The Kingdom celebrates this day with nationwide events and activities that emphasize tradition and unity. This year’s theme, “We dream and we achieve,” will be echoed throughout the country. As September 23rd falls on a Saturday, it provides an extended weekend for relaxation and celebration for those on a six-day workweek, as well as a corresponding day off for individuals on a standard five-day week, making it an inclusive and joyous occasion. The celebrations include vibrant displays of cultural heritage, fireworks, regional parades, music, and traditional attire, all adorned with Saudi flags and green illumination to represent the heart of Saudi identity.
