Mahika Gaur, a former player for the UAE national women’s cricket team, has been chosen to play for the England squad. Gaur, who played 19 T20 internationals for the UAE, is eligible to play for England as she was born there. The 17-year-old left-arm pace bowler has been called up by the England selectors for the team’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka next month.

UAE national women’s cricket team captain, Chaya Mughal, expressed her happiness and support for Gaur’s selection. Mughal stated that she always believed Gaur had the potential to play for a top international team. She credited the Emirates Cricket Board for the growth of women’s cricket in the UAE, which has provided opportunities for talented players like Gaur to shine on a global stage. While Mughal admitted she would miss having Gaur as part of the UAE team, she expressed her excitement for Gaur’s future cricketing journey.
