Cricket is making its way to the United States in a significant milestone as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that the men’s T20 World Cup, set for June 4-30 next year, will feature matches in Dallas, Florida, and New York. This marks the first time that the USA will host a global cricket event, co-hosted alongside the West Indies, as the sport aims to establish a presence in a new territory.
The ICC has announced plans for a 34,000-seat stadium in Eisenhower Park, New York, subject to receiving the necessary permit next month. Additionally, venues in Grand Prairie, Dallas, and Broward County, Florida, will undergo expansions to accommodate larger audiences, media facilities, and premium hospitality areas. With 20 teams participating, this T20 World Cup is poised to become the largest in its history. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice emphasized the strategic importance of the U.S. market, recognizing it as a valuable opportunity to make cricket a significant presence in the world’s largest sports market.
Cricket enthusiasts in the USA can look forward to witnessing high-quality T20 matches on home soil, further building on the sport’s success in the country, including the recent Major League Cricket competition and T20 matches between India and the West Indies hosted in Florida.
