Dubai Holding’s Hatta sign, perched atop the Hajar Mountains, has secured a Guinness World Record as the tallest landmark sign, standing at an impressive 13.7 meters, even surpassing the renowned Hollywood sign in the US. This mountain marker has become a symbol of adventure in the Hatta region, attracting outdoor enthusiasts with activities like mountain biking and kayaking. Accessible only by foot, the sign requires a 30-minute hike from Hatta Wadi Hub, offering a unique experience to visitors.
Hatta’s growing popularity has spurred the Hatta Master Development Plan, aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, aimed at boosting tourism, business, and investment in the area. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid unveiled an ambitious vision for Hatta in October 2021, featuring plans for a beach, a new lake, a cable railway, hotels, and extensive bicycle paths. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed subsequently formed a supreme committee to oversee this substantial project. Dubai Tourism’s “The Highlands of Dubai” campaign, launched in December, has further highlighted Hatta’s appeal, emphasizing its cooler climate and natural beauty. Among the upcoming developments is the Hatta Beach Project, set to offer year-round attractions, including the Crystal Lagoon—a man-made lake complete with a beach, entertainment facilities, watersports, and shoreline activities.
