In a bid to enhance job security, employees in the UAE can now access job loss insurance through etisalat by e& as the subscription deadline approaches. This marks the second avenue introduced this month for subscribing to the Involuntary Loss of Employment Scheme (ILOE). Previously, Astra Tech, a consumer technology holding group, joined hands with the ILOE insurance pool, represented by Dubai Insurance Company, to offer this coverage through the Botim app.

The job loss insurance initiative became mandatory on January 1, 2023, for employees in both the private sector and the federal government sector. Initially, employees had from January to June to subscribe, but the deadline has now been extended until October 1, 2023. Those who miss this date could face a Dh400 fine for failing to enroll. Subscribing is simple, with employees in the UAE able to register via SMS to 2120 by typing “ID” followed by their Emirates ID number. Dana Kansou, Manager of Distribution and Strategic Partnerships at Dubai Insurance, urged prompt registration to avoid potential fines, aligning with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) guidelines.
