UAE Launches Month-Long Cloud-Seeding Drive: Raining Innovation to Boost Water Security

Share

The UAE has launched a month-long cloud-seeding campaign with the goal of enhancing rainfall across the nation through advanced technologies. Collaborating with US-based climate research company Spec Incorporated, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) is leading the Cloudix initiative, focused on investigating cloud-seeding methods for increased rain. Equipped with cutting-edge instruments, NCM’s aircraft and Spec’s learjet will gather crucial data during test flights, evaluating the performance of various cloud seeding materials and their interactions with electric charges. The campaign, set to continue until the end of September, builds on the UAE’s commitment to addressing water security and arid climate concerns through innovative techniques like cloud seeding.

The UAE has been a pioneer in cloud seeding for years, deploying techniques to stimulate rainfall and support agriculture in its dry climate. The ongoing campaign underlines the country’s dedication to research and innovation in this field, with a particular focus on enhancing water and food security while fostering tourism.
