Abu Dhabi: The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has launched a pioneering policy to support work-life balance and family connections.
Starting with the first day of school for primary and higher-grade students, employees now enjoy flexible work hours. This arrangement enables parents to accompany their children to and from school with ease.
This flexibility is applicable for up to 3 hours on the initial school day. Notably, the policy considers varying school start dates, ensuring fairness for all despite different curricula.
Parents with young children, particularly those attending nurseries or kindergartens, can also benefit. During the first school week, they can adapt their work hours to settle their kids into these early learning environments. Like the provision for older students, this flexibility is capped at 3 hours per day.
Beyond the start of the school year, FAHR’s policy extends to cover school-related events throughout the academic calendar. Employees can use up to 3 hours to attend parent-teacher meetings, witness their children’s graduations, and participate in other school functions. While emphasizing flexibility, the Federal Authority underscores the need to maintain workflow and service quality, in line with the Federal Government’s Human Resources Law.
This UAE initiative reflects a strong commitment to improve family well-being and harmonise work and parenting responsibilities.
