The UAE encountered scorching temperatures on Saturday, marking the hottest day of the year as the thermometer reached an astonishing 50.8°C.
The National Centre of Meteorology reported that the highest temperature of the day was registered in Owtaid, located in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi, at 2:45 pm.
Earlier in July, the mercury had crossed the 50°C mark for the first time this summer, hitting 50.1°C for two consecutive days on July 15 and 16 in Bada Dafas, also part of the Al Dhafra Region in Abu Dhabi.
Earlier this month, Owtaid experienced temperatures of 50.2°C on August 2. The heat wave continued with temperatures peaking at 50.3°C on August 25.
As the UAE faces these extreme temperatures, people are advised to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated during this intense summer season.
