Heavy Rains and Hail Expected in UAE, Authorities Issue Advisory

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is bracing for heavy rains and hail, with the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicting thunder and lightning on Monday and Tuesday. The eastern and southern regions of the country, along with some “internal areas,” are likely to experience these icy showers. In response to the weather forecast, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a precautionary advisory for residents, emphasizing the importance of staying informed through official weather bulletins, following guidance from authorities, and ensuring vehicles are in optimal condition, particularly headlights, windshield wipers, and tires. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, avoid speeding, and steer clear of flood-prone areas.

Notably, the MoI has implemented strict rules earlier this year to discourage people from gathering near or entering flooded valleys or dams during rain and adverse weather conditions. Violations of these rules can result in fines of up to Dh2,000, 23 black points on a driver’s record, and vehicle confiscation for two months. Residents are advised to heed these warnings and take necessary precautions as the UAE prepares for inclement weather in the coming days.
