UAE Cracks Down on Companies Faking Emiratisation, Imposes Fines

In a significant crackdown, approximately 565 companies operating in the UAE have been caught violating Emiratisation rules by hiring 824 UAE nationals for fake jobs. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has taken strict action against these companies, initiating legal and administrative procedures against them.

The Ministry clarified that faking Emiratisation is a direct violation of established rules and the Nafis program’s regulations. MoHRE stated that they have taken strong steps against these companies, which include downgrading their status within MoHRE’s systems, imposing fines ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh100,000, and potentially referring them to the Public Prosecution, depending on the severity of the violation.

As part of these measures, the Ministry has stopped Nafis payments for UAE nationals who were found to be involved in these fake Emiratisation schemes. The UAE’s commitment to authentic and fair Emiratisation practices is reinforced by this action. These moves align with the UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 44 of 2023, which amends certain aspects of Cabinet Resolution No. 95 of 2022 regarding penalties and administrative fines related to the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council’s (Nafis) initiatives and programs.
