Dubai Customs Seizes Dh6.2 Million Worth of Narcotic Pills and Restricted Substances

Dubai Customs has successfully intercepted two shipments containing a staggering 200,000 narcotic pills and restricted substances, with a combined estimated value of Dh6.2 million. These illicit goods were detected during routine inspections of air freight arriving from an Asian country. In the first shipment, officials uncovered 33,284 pills valued at approximately Dh1 million hidden among 20 packages weighing 460kg. The second shipment, weighing 520kg, concealed a whopping 175,300 Tramadol pills valued at around Dh5.25 million. Following legal procedures, the seized goods and individuals involved were handed over to the General Department of Narcotics Control at the Dubai Police General Headquarters.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, the Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, commended the efforts of the Customs Intelligence Department in safeguarding the nation and its citizens. He emphasized Dubai Customs’ commitment to global leadership in customs security, aiming to protect society and the economy.
