The University of Sharjah is revolutionizing its education approach with the launch of a hybrid learning system designed to cater to the needs of working students. The visionary leader, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has given his endorsement to this student-focused initiative, aiming to provide flexibility to those facing the challenge of balancing work and education.

Acknowledging the difficulties faced by students managing work commitments, Sheikh Dr Sultan empathetically announced the university’s plan during a candid phone interview. The new hybrid education system will combine in-person and remote learning, requiring students to attend in-person classes just one day per week per course, as opposed to the previous three-day schedule. The remaining two days will be dedicated to online learning, ensuring a harmonious blend for busy students.

Importantly, this innovative approach will be applied selectively, targeting cases where students’ circumstances necessitate such a model. The aim is to support those who are unable to take leave from their jobs, rather than implementing a universal solution. Prompted by a concerned resident’s insights, Sheikh Dr Sultan’s compassionate step reflects the university’s commitment to making education more accessible and adaptive to real-life challenges.
