Today, we mark eight years since Emirati Women’s Day began, thanks to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, a respected leader in the UAE. Sheikha Fatima, created this day in 2015 to honor the big contributions Emirati women make. We’re talking about their important roles in jobs like business, government, schools, and hospitals. The day also reminds us about how women’s rights and chances have improved.
The theme for Emirati Women’s Day 2023 is ‘We Collaborate for Tomorrow’. This idea goes along with what UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan wants for a greener future. The theme shows that the UAE is serious about finding new ways to handle things like power, being eco-friendly, and dealing with climate change. We celebrate this special day on August 28 each year, which is when the UAE’s General Women’s Union started back in 1975. This reminds us of the important part women play in building the country.
Besides the celebrations, Sheikha Fatima told everyone about a new plan called the National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women. This plan wants to make sure women are doing well in many parts of life. It wants to help families, get women better jobs, and help them learn new things. The plan also wants to make sure the laws and rules help women have good lives, and it wants to make friends with people from other places to help women more.
