Customs authorities successfully intercepted a passenger arriving from Singapore via an Air India flight. During their investigation, officials discovered a significant haul of gold weighing 349 grams, valued at Rs20,90,859.
In a prior case at Cochin International Airport, a passenger identified as Muhammad, hailing from Kozhikode, was apprehended for allegedly attempting to smuggle a substantial amount of gold. According to an official statement released on Friday, Muhammad had arrived in Kochi from Bahrain.
Based on profiling and intelligence efforts, officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) initiated an investigation. During a thorough examination, they unearthed a concealed cache of gold. Three cylindrical capsules, suspected to contain gold in compound form, were recovered from Muhammad’s body. In total, these capsules held a staggering 913.09 grams of gold, estimated at Rs4.5 million.
